How to Apply Makeup when You Have Acne

This is a simple step guide of how to apply make-up when you have acne. If you have very bad acne, then its best to go to your doctor. If you have mild to moderate that can be covered easily with make-up, then read on.

Steps:

  • To start of with use a full coverage foundation, (choose one thats a shade darker then your skin). Avoid putting more then one layer of foundation as this can draw attention to your skin. Normally, one layer should be enough to cover those spots, but if you have a lot of spots then apply just a little more but make sure it stays natural and not cakey. Make sure your foundation has full coverage and oil free.

  • If you have oily skin, apply a mattifying powder on top. This is to ensure the makeup stays and to control shine.

  • Now, if you have acne, then the best thing to do is to concentrate on your eyes. Drawing attention to your eyes will help hide the flaws on your skin and people won't concentrate on or notice the acne as much. Apply top liner on your upper eye and make it nice and thick. Then, apply thick bottom liner and make it thick, yet elegant. Apply some mascara to wake your eyes and give it that "cat eye" effect.

  • Apply some blusher. This adds color to your skin and reduces the visibility of acne on your skin. Applying a bronzer on your skin can add color and radiance. Apply a shade that's one shade darker then your foundation.

  • Apply some lipstick to give you the full look. If you're wearing bronzer, then shades of mauve, nude and brown can look very sexy.

  • This should hide your skin flaws but remember to treat your acne at the same time by using topical acne treatments from your doctor and to look after your skin by using gentle skin cleansers and drinking water to draw out the toxins from your skin.
    1. Eating a good balanced diet can also help but eating chocolate and fatty foods do not cause acne.
